Gilbert Murray
Gilbert Murray (1866-1957) Filólogo y crítico británico, de origen australiano. Fue profesor de griego en Oxford (1908-36). Tradujo al inglés las obras de los clásicos y publicó importantes estudios culturales: The Rise of the Greek Epic (1907), Euripides and his Age (1913), Aeschylus, the Creator of Tragedy (1940). Ensayos políticos son Faith, War and Policy (1918) y Liberality and Civilization (1938). Intentó aunar la tradición artística clásica con el liberalismo intelectual británico.
