Trayectoria artística De formación autodidacta, empezó a tocar blues con su guitarra antes de trabajar, a partir de principios de los años sesenta, como músico de acompañamiento de figuras del rhythm and blues y del soul, como Ike & Tina Turner y King Curtis, Isley Brothers, B.B. King, Wilson Pickett y en particular Little Richard. Ya entonces mostraba que sus principales influencias en la guitarra eran T. Bone Walker y Johnny Guitar Watson.
