Letón
Introducción Conocido desde el s. XVI, los documentos más antiguos en letón son un catecismo católico y otro luterano. La lengua literaria moderna se consolidó en el s. XVIII, sobre la base del dialecto central. En contraposición al lituano, el letón ha conservado pocas formas antiguas y ha ampliado considerablemente su vocabulario con palabras del idioma ruso, el finés, el sueco y el alemán.
